How to Make Homemade Wallpaper

Making homemade wallpaper is so easy.

FIRST- you need to print out whatever it is you want to turn into wallpaper.

You don’t even have to do that, you can use a bunch of ANYTHING to be wallpaper. I first saw this done on a decorating TV show, they took BROWN PAPER BAGS and ripped them up into pieces- about the size of your head- and then they wrinkled them up & painted over them with a golden glaze.

SECOND- You need to buy some wallpaper adhesive. You should probably do that first. It comes in a liquid form or a paste form. You can even use Mod Podge.

THIRD – After you do the first thing, that is, since you’re really doing the second thing first.

Whatever. Dip your paper into the paste & smooth it down onto the wall. Use one of those scrapers if you want it to be perfectly flat. If you like the raised texture, then have at it, you wild decorating freak, you.

Lather, Rinse Repeat. I shouldn’t say that. Don’t really try to lather it. just repeat. Dunk another paper into the paste, then apply it to the wall. Be creative with your technique, the brown paper bag method was applied all bamboozly- with seams everywhere, that seems a lot easier than lining everything up perfectly.

Last- After it’s all dried, you might want to go over it one more time with a layer of adhesive, applied with a paint roller, to seal it off completely.

Wallpaper adhesive comes in matte and gloss finishes, so you can choose the one that works best for your application.
