Game Room Ideas

Decorating with a Pool Table

You can get a full sized pool table, a tabletop conversion set of a miniature pool table, they are almost mandatory for a game room. be sure you have plenty of clearance around your table for bending down and making difficult shots. You might also want to consider getting a conversion to a card table set, that allows you to turn your pool table into a poker table.

Decorating with an Air Hockey table

Air hockey is a lot more energetic than pool, and a great way to burn off some steam during the winter. It makes a great addition to a game room. You can get a tabletop air hockey set or a portable air hockey game that can be taken down when it’s not in use. This is important where space is a concern. If your game room is doubling as a garage or something else, then being able to dismantle the air hockey table is important.

Decorating with a Ping Pong Table

Ping pong is also energetic, and in my opinion requires more skill than air hockey. A ping pong table can be portable or permanent. You’ll also want to make sure that you have a cabinet, drawer or rubbermaid storage box to keep your paddles and ping pong balls handy.

Decorating with a Dart Board Set

You can hang a dart board just about anywhere. To protect your walls, be sure that you mount a sheet of foam or cork board, or a stainless steel protective sheet over the wall. A nice magnetic one can be a great place to hang the score tally, or the competitive rankings of everyone in the family. Look into getting some of the fancier game armoires that have electronic dartboards built in, and can accommodate boards and pieces for other games, too, like chess and checkers.

Decorating with Board Games

Board games are an important part of any game room. Instead of burying them in a closet, have them displayed prominently on an open shelf, so that no one skips over them in favor of the more high-tech options. Board games are great for the mind. Be sure that you have a table to play them on, and enough chairs or bean bags for everyone.
