Bathroom Decorating Themes
You can make your boring bathroom look nicer by giving it a theme. Bathroom themes are great for consistency and for quick makeovers.
The first thing you need to do if you want to be able to utilize quick-change bathroom themes, is to choose a paint color that goes well with each of the themes you like best.
Fun Bathroom Themes
Some popular bathroom themes are Spongebob Squarepants, rubber duckies, mermaids, oceanic fish, bubbles, surfing and ocean waves. These themes go well with walls that are painted in shades of blue, white or tan (like beach sand)
To implement (or change) a theme, use thumbtacks or double-sided tape to adhere a wallpaper border, then apply some wall art stickers. If you don’t have patterned towels, you can tie a string of raffia to your guest towels and add a corresponding toy or other trinket to the center, to quick-theme your guest towels. You can make inexpensive wall-art by replacing the art in a thrift-shop frame with something you’ve pulled from a magazine, a calendar, or printed online via a Google Image Search.
Mature Bathroom Themes
OK, I didn’t intend to make these bathroom themes sound OLD or anything, but they’re definitely not as kid-friendly as Spongebob Squarepants!
The outhouse theme, hunting, golfing, wooden ducks, jungle animals, black,hawaiian floral, safari animals, Asian theme and Vintage bathing ladies are the most popular non-childlike bathroom themes available.
For paint, stick with something neutral. Again, they all go well with tan,, or a pastel shade like mint green. Obviously the black bathroom might require black walls, but those black walls will also look good with the Asian or the safari animals themes, too.
How to Quick-Change your Bathroom Theme
Keep each “theme” in a rubbermaid box. If you’re using raffia towel ties instead of printed towels, you can save space. All you really need is a wallpaper border, a guest-towel decor and a new insert for your framed wall art. A counter-top sculpture is a nice addition, as is a new back-of-the-potty book to read. Keep your wall colors and your rugs the same, as long as the colors are complimentary. Adhesive wall-art is optional, but since they’re so inexpensive, I’d definitely consider it.
